comment Unable to update Node JS - keeps returning to old version [Ubuntu 15.04]
Awesome! Glad you found something that works. NVM is my preferred way of installing Node on Ubuntu as well.

You'll want to figure out where your current version of Node is coming from. which nodejs will tell you that. Then, run apt-get remove... again and see what the output of which nodejs is after attempting to remove it.

Questions about Mint are not on-topic here. You may want to move this to the Linux & Unix StackExchange.

comment Cannot get “alias” command to work at al
Running just alias should list all of your aliases (including several which come with Ubuntu out of the box). Does this give you output? Does it include your new ge in the output?

comment What is the difference between curl and wget?
@muru I guess we just have different interpretations of the sentiment behind the question. In my interpretation, the sentiment is: "I've heard of these two tools which seem to do the same thing. What is the difference between them, and when should I choose one over the other? What about in this specific case?" ...which seems like a reasonable question to me.

@muru you seem to be focusing on the "download... www.google.com" example, which was added to the question later. Given the title, the true question is "What is the difference...?" so of course the answers focus on feature comparisons.

comment Will Ubuntu 64-bit support my PC with of 2 gb ram?
@Fabby I sort of assumed as much, but I'm curious about the other reasons. It seems like the kind of question that would have an official answer, and while the question itself is... short, it seems like a fair question. The closest I can find to an answer is this, but that doesn't seem to address memory requirements for 64-bit.

@muru "answers to this question will tend to be almost entirely based on opinions, rather than facts" yet all of the answers here seem to provide valuable insight based on verifiable differences between the tools.

While this question may not be the right fit for this website, "opinion-based" seems like a strange rationale. The question can certainly be answered in an objective, verifiable (and well-cited/documented) way.
