comment Top of the window hidden beneath panel
Can you use Alt to grab them and pull them down to where you can close them?

Spoke too soon, they moved again. Three logins down the road

I did that and it reset its locked status and moved again. When I was double checking that all were locked, I accidentally removed my weather applet. I put it back. Now the notifications stay put. Weird!

comment My dropbox and network indicators moved to the bottom panel
I got it to move to the top by unlocking everything on both panels. Then I right clicked near as you suggested and chose move. It is staying on the top panel but every time I login it is in a seemingly random location on the top panel. It makes no difference if I lock it to the panel or not.

I was able to remove it from the bottom. But it would not let me add it to the top. So I restarted and it was back at the bottom. I set the bottom panel as a right panel and then it would let me move them up the right side to the top. I felt problem solved. I reset it to be on the bottom again and my notifications were still at the top. I rebooted to make sure all was well and they are at the bottom again.

Sound is broken in 1.3.25. Downgrade to 1.3.24 to fix that.

If you want it to point to a physical CD instead of an ISO then use show advanced in wine config, That will allow you to tell wine it is a CD-ROM. I have had much better luck with ISO images.

Use wine config to create the drive in wine that points /media/wincd

comment How to install LogMeIn on Ubuntu Linux 10.04
Since the Windows box connection is encrypted it matters not that the VNC connection is not secure since its traffic is only over your local network not the internet.

comment How to install LogMeIn on Ubuntu Linux 10.04
I downloaded and installed it on my 10.10 server. Then from a root terminal or using sudo I ran: hamachi login <ligmeinaccount> followed by hamachi attach <ligmeinaccount>. I then logged into my LogMeIn account and went to the "Join Requests" page to accept the request. All this adds it to the account where it can join your networks. But it does not give you the ability to remotely control the machine. You may have to do what I do and remote control a Windows box on your network and then VNC into your Ubuntu server

comment Wine 1.3.25 update broke sound, how do I go back?
I backed up my wine prefix folder; used Synaptic to remove anything wine; and then installed 1.3.24. My sound seems to be fine now. I did not need my backup. Applications and configurations are as they were before.

comment wine desktop is clipping on netbook
If the desktop is partially moved off screen before the program re-sizes it; then Clipping does not occur. And then it can be grabbed and moved where it is needed. Of course this only saves resizing, both top all and grab/move still need to be done. So it is replacing a resizing with a quick grab and move. Only slightly better. Can someone come up with a solution that either leaves it on screen without clipping or at least makes it top all automatically.
