Shell command to uninstall flash: "sudo apt-get remove adobe-flashplugin" it worked for me and I can watch videos now

This answer helped me a lot, using the "nomodeset" was the only way to install 14.04. The only catch is that once it is installed I removed the "nomodeset" option from grub editing /etc/default/grub and installed the nvidia driver from the default "Additional Drivers" program. Now the computer works perfectly as a Certified Hardware model should. Thanks!

there's just one additional thing I had to do. I was not able to set the region because the dvd wouldn't be read at all (could not read /dev/dvd). There was no dvd folder in /dev so I created a symbolic link using "cd /dev" then "sudo ln -s sr0 dvd" (without the quotes off course) Otherwise thank you very much
