better bugzilla since it could be dealt with upstream at once, but if you want a faster/more friendly response launchpad is generally better (though there is the risk upstream would deny any patches simply because they come from Canonical).

Ubuntu's root partition cannot be NTFS. I'll probably write an extended answer later when I have more time, but you could just create symbolic links from ubuntu to allow file sharing.

I was able to do that on windows as well, but that was with internet explorer, and it is a rather tricky method they use, which is really an invasion of privacy, and a danger in that other applications can access the data (e.g. viruses/spyware).

I could try to pull up some good links tomorrow, or maybe a kernel hacker can get them quick for you. But generally, even on windows (yes even on windows) doing checks on a mounted file system is bad news!
