comment Will the deleted browser history be stored in File-system?
I was able to do that on windows as well, but that was with internet explorer, and it is a rather tricky method they use, which is really an invasion of privacy, and a danger in that other applications can access the data (e.g. viruses/spyware).

comment How to check a mounted filesystem for errors in a reliable way
I could try to pull up some good links tomorrow, or maybe a kernel hacker can get them quick for you. But generally, even on windows (yes even on windows) doing checks on a mounted file system is bad news!

comment Desktop load (Gnome or Netbook edition) jams after upgrading to 2.6.35 kernel
Can you post the output of dmesg and possibly lshw? Also when you boot, can you edit the menu entry to remove the quiet part and see what output it is giving you that causes you to have to press enter? If you need more details on how to do that, leave a comment and I'll try to help.

comment Force fsck.ext4 on reboot, but really “forceful”
no you can do it in recovery mode, and if the drive does not have major problems a reboot check normally fixes those. The fact that it's not fixing errors when it reboots means most likely you have some kind of damage or something is really mixed up that requires a manual check.
