comment Is it possible to use Microsoft Exchange Calendar with Ubuntu?
I don't use Exchange, so I won't add this as an answer, but you should try Evolution. I think it should be able to do what you want, and a lot more.

comment Best practices for installing Java on secure server running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
Ubuntu is not like Windows, where there's a distinction between the OS itself and addons like Java. In Ubuntu, software like Java receives security updates for the lifetime of Ubuntu, regardless of Oracle. So even if Java7 is considered insecure on Windows, it's still secure in Ubuntu, as long as you install normal updates. That's one of the reasons why Free Software and Open Source is so important.

@Jason: Security fixes gets backported in Ubuntu. So even if it would've been a huge security risk on Windows, it's not so on Ubuntu. If it's in the main Ubuntu repository, it gets security upgrades for the lifetime of your Ubuntu distro. So for Ubuntu 14.04, Java7 will be supported until April 2019. You don't need a major upgrade for that.

comment Snappy Ubuntu, how does it relate to Nix and Guix?
Snappy does not statically compile in libraries. It allows you to store libraries in the same folder as your binary so that you don't have to depend on system libraries, but it also allows you to rely on system libraries if you don't need a release independent package. So Snappy doesn't remove the benefits of having a stable LTS release. It just makes everything a lot simpler.

comment can't run executables “.x86” on ubuntu 14.04
@Swagmaster: That error means the file doesn't exist. You have to use the right filename, and it is case sensitive. You can't write "Home" if it's called "home". Enter the first letters and press tab, the system will autocomplete the filename for you.

@rubo77: I don't think that should be a problem. It uses a router and a dhcp server, pretty much like your wireless router at home.

comment ubuntu 14.04 package install fail (apt-get install error)
The install script for SQL Alchemy is trying to configure a database for you, adding tables to hold data. However, those tables already exists in the database. So you can probably just drop the "instances" table, if you don't have anything important in it.
