Thanks. I'll accept/upvote the answer in next few days if I see that the problem is not reoccurring.

comment 12.04 BCM4312 and aireplay-ng/airodump-ng
If no one knows the answer to your question, I think you should try the aircrack forums, there are usually lot of explanations there for different devices.

comment How well do laptops with Nvidia Optimus work?
This answer is simply not true, I bought intel, nvidia, optimus combination a week ago on 12.04, everything works great. Just add the stable ppa: launchpad.net/~bumblebee/+archive/stable and it works great. Now they even have an gui app that allows you to select the applications that will run with nvidia and which with intel gpu.

@TomBrossman I assume that Sara was looking for ubuntu app that does the job.

comment When will Gimp 2.8 come to the software repository?
He explicitly said that he doesn't want PPAs, and "CAUTION! This PPA could break your installed OS..." explains why. He's asking if there will be an update in ubuntu repositories, not 3rd party PPAs.

comment How can I upgrade to Ubuntu 12.04 from Clean Install of 9.10?
It is by far less time consuming downloading 12.04 image and doing a new install. There is also a great chance that your system will be faster after clean install.

comment Ubuntu 12.04 Slow and low memory
512Mb is really low for modern fancy operating systems. You should try a lighter one like Xubuntu or even better Lubuntu, your interface might not look good as in Ubuntu, but it should consume much less memory. You don't loose much, both systems are completely compatible with Ubuntu, have same software sources, if something is "for Ubuntu" it will work on X/Lubuntu as well. Give it a try.
