you should undo the system wide steps since they might conflict with apt's eclipse

comment iso image is not getting burned properly!
you need to make yourself clear. what do you mean by some cd's dont show up anything? are you saying that this machine can't show other cd's either? what do you mean by it shows only the iso file in it? are you saying that it shows the ISO file when you try to check the contents of the CD after burning?

comment How do you get window management (window titles etc) working properly for java applications?
once you are on the application that you want, use the down arrow (while holding alt) to see the windows within the group, and select the desired one.

Try using the Sun JRE if you are using OpenJDK and vice versa.

comment ALT+SysRq+REISUB hangs at “resetting” (without actually resetting/restarting)
Maybe you have ACPI issues. Try booting with nolapic and acpi=off and acpi=bios

comment Television on Linux with TV-Tuner? How can I find a way to use it?
I don't think so. Are you a kernel driver developer? No. If you are a power-user to the extent that you want to build unstable kernel modules, then I don't need to help you with that, you're smart enough to figure that out yourself. But if your goal is just to have a system to watch DVB television on, it is not worth the time compiling your own kernel modules.

I have. It is a site for organization of the Linux TV stack. It doesn't concern everyday users, only power-users and programmers.

Check if Kaffeine has a Digital TV option like here: downloadatoz.com/howto/200811/tag/kaffeine.jpg

Simply launch Kaffeine or similar and check if it has the DVB menu options and they are available. If they are available, try to use them. If they are not available, DVB is probably not supported using your hardware.
