comment Error installing GIT on Ubuntu 14.04
just tried the git-core ppa and installed git from it. Everything is fine here. Size mismatch is mostly that your system finds, but cannot fully fetch the file. Since it is working here, it might be your ISPs fault or some proxy/firewall related problem like @Pabi mentioned.

comment 14.04: What to do about deprecated Intel Linux Graphics installer?
Do not use the installer on 14.04, use drivers from repository. If you really need fresh drivers in 14.04, take a look at the x-org edgers ppa (launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ubuntu/ppa), they got it all. But be warned: bleeding edge may contain unwanted bugs.

comment Nautilus sometimes refuses to rename files or folders - terminal works
I think you are looking for an answer how to solve this with nautilus, but in my experience nautilus in ubuntu is absolutely broken for anything beside viewing folder contents. If you rely on a powerful Filenavigator, look for alternatives. I use Nemo with Unity Patches from webupd8 ppa. Just works.

comment UBUNTU/PHP: Can not connect to sql server 2008
ok, can you check somehow, if any requests reaches the mssql server? Tried to ping the mssql server from the test-vm? In PHP Manual(php.net/manual/en/function.mssql-connect.php#105132), somebody pointed out, that SELinux could prevend Apache from connecting to network. You said it gives you "MSSQL error:", but what number behind the colon? Normally there should be a Number you can google.

comment UBUNTU/PHP: Can not connect to sql server 2008
since we do not have enough information to analyse it, I guess: Your test machine cannot connect to mssql server, because of a firewall? Maybe you are using an mssql srver with only one allowed connection at a time (I really do not know nor care under what conditions you are allowed to use m$ precious databaseserver)?

Your answer could be better by exactly showing what kind of changes should be made to the files you mentioned and explaining why it needs to be changed like that.

Please ask a question, not only summing up your problems, also a full configuration file could be useful or output of netstat -l to see what process is listening on 443. Maybe your answer is right in the ports.conf file you posted, there is mod_gnutls listening on port 443 also.
