comment What is a good setup for LaTeX and R?
Thanks! When I wrote this post RStudio wasn't around yet I think, or at least not as good as it is now. I have been using RStudio mostly for a year now. For LaTeX it depends on if my document is more Sweave/knitr focused or text focused if I use RStudio or Gedit/Emacs respectively (Gedit and Emacs for inline spellcheck).

Why doesn't it work? Maybe you have the same error I am having since yesterday: askubuntu.com/questions/48295/unable-to-log-into-gnome-desktop

Went with Gedit and texmaker. Emacs seems very useful but more of a long term goal to reach than something I have to use today:) Thanks.

comment Gedits gedit-latex-plugin not working correctly
Just realized that I can easily use the embedded terminal to build the documents. Would be nice to use the gedit-latex-plugin commands tho.

Thanks. I tried this on one of my .tex files and it compiled as usual. Compiling it in texmaker also works, it is just that it doesn't work in gedit.

Thanks. I have installed Emacs/ESS/AucTex now. Is there a good guide on how to use it for R somewhere?

Thanks for migating, wasn't even aware of this SE site. All I really look for in a text editor is easy indenting and paranthese highlighting and line passing to R. On windows notepad++ does everything I want really. For LaTeX I like an editor that has some of the codes build in in dropdownmenus or whatever.
