Eric I think files=([0-9][0-9].png) this creates something like files="00.png 01.png 02.png etc.... " am I right?

My idea was to create a nested for loop for i in seq 0 9 do for j in seq 0 9 do //whatever it takes to do done done, but yours seems a more comprehensive.
