Since asking this, Google Play Music have been made available in my region. I am still, however, interested in knowing about other alternatives.

I found my self in a removable disk that I had ejected. Changing into my home folder got me going again. This put me on the right path (literally).

Unfortunately, there does not seem to be any options at the moment. The Nike+ FuelBand offers the best possibilities as it can connect directly to a computer over USB.

comment How to listen to Audible files?
I got the following reply from Audible just now: “I understand you would like to use Audible on a Linux computer. We are currently working with the open-source developers of Linux to see if we can make our file format compatible with their operating system. We would love to make our content available to Linux users as soon as possible, as we often hear from Linux fans regarding Audible playback.”
