Hello thank you for that, I have just looked at the question but this is only referring to a single card and would require Eyefinity which that card wouldn't have instead it has the HDMI slot. My 3 monitors are all AGP - one is in the AGP slot the other is in a DVI slot using a DVI-A to VGA adapter and the other on the second card is in the AGP slot. This all works fine in Windows though so not a problem with the card or monitors.

I have removed the xorg.config files and rebooted - there is still no 3rd monitor and now the second one is ghosting whenever something is moved or minimized.

Hello thank you for your reply I will try what you suggest and reboot, just one thing in my X11 folder I have another xorg file named xorg.config.20110518140538 the first part looks like a date not sure about the second part after that - maybe the time? What is this? can this also be removed?
