Currently being the CEO of a Holding in the fields of Corporate Finance linked with Advisory for Business Process Reengineering (and several other fields of business). As today's business needs heavily involve IT & business alignment in order to optimise profitability, I'm always keen on learning more about and experimenting with different setups, architectures, programmes and applications, so to get the most out of existing infrastructure.

Ubuntu for sure is one of the greatest achievements in the IT sector so far. I have never seen such an impressing road map combined with achievements, which not only improve our daily needs but also have such tremendous impact on companies' profitability. Apart from that, the seemless integration of systems from mobile devices up to real-deal-big-boy cloud computing with just one "layout and philosphy" is truly remarkable.

comment Installing pagekite/owncloud remote access on Ubuntu server 12.04
May I ask why you want to install Pagekite although you have already setup an Ubuntu server? Because of a dynamic IP address?

comment Is the whole desktop of Linux Deepin available to install in Ubuntu?
To be straight, I haven't tested the new release yet, but as one can easily see: Deepin 12.06 came with a modified Gnome-Shell as their default De, now 12.12 comes with smthg based upon Compiz, this is exactly, what I was talking about: You cannot rely on their decisions. Smthg can happen anyday and you have no idea about how, what, why and when. Have you tested the Gnome 3.8.x desktop environment? From my point of view, it adds some very nice features and has a lot of changes compared to prior releases. Unfortunately, at the moment it is not perfectly stable as well.

comment Missing icons in Gnome-Shell overview
I checked the *.desktop entries and it seems that only those icons get affected, which are not located in the /usr/share/icons directory but in a separate directory as it is the case for xdiagnose.

I have checked on a different unser account, but the icons are gone there too. The local/share/applications folder shows some weird .desktop-files, as some of them contain the line hidden=true (gimp or totem for instance), but none of the not showing icons.

comment Nautilus search provider Gnome-Shell Activities / Overview
I've added the Staging Repository on another machine a couple of days ago (and of course upgraded the packages via dist-upgrade). I let the tracker complete its indexing, but sadly ... still no files showing up. Again, if files are located directly in the home folder, they immediately show up.

comment Gnome Do Banshee plugin?
OK, now I have tried a different approach on another PC: First, I installed Banshee through Ubuntu's repositories, afterwards I installed Gnome-do. Et voilá - the Banshee plugin was there. Now I have tried to completely wipe Gnome-Do from my main machine and reinstall it from the repositories without success. I manually deleted all gnome-do files in home/.local/share/ and in home/.gconf/, but still after reinstalling Gnome-do just looks the same, has the same plugins activated. How can I completely wipe it off my disk?
