comment acrobat reader alternative?
@DavidFoerster Thanks. I wonder why is it so. Would it be difficult coding? Are pdf files somehow encrypted and one has to do hard reverse engineering? Or is simply nobody needing this?

No, it does not help. The point is that I have to share documents with other colleagues and I cannot/wouldn't force them to install foxit.

comment acrobat reader alternative?
@kos Yes, exactly. And, if possible, in a way that is compatible with mainstream pdf-readers for win.

comment How can I install evince 3.14?
I've just done so, but only to discover that v3.12 does not support note deletion, either.

comment Is there a 64bit version of ubuntu for intel CPUs?
The following text appears on the official Ubuntu page: "Choose this to take full advantage of computers based on the AMD64 or EM64T architecture (e.g., Athlon64, Opteron, EM64T Xeon, Core 2). If you have a non-64-bit processor made by AMD, or if you need full support for 32-bit code, use the Intel x86 images instead." If your answer is correct (which I believe), then this text is misleading, to say the least.

comment oscilloscope for ubuntu 13.04
thanks phpdev. unfortunately, in my version of audacity (2.0.1) there is no oscilloscope, but only a spectrogram, and i was not able to find any reasonable plugin to enable an oscilloscope-like visualisation.

well, "analysis" is probably an exaggeration. mostly, i would like to show to my students what is an overtone, what are partials and so on.
