I'm looking for clarity, simplicity.
As I'm a user not an expert I prefer a readily available GUI (I'll use ppas but prefer the software centre).
Similarly I will use terminal but prefer a brief explanation of each command I am executing, both so I can learn and keep an eye on what I'm doing.
Referencing some Ubuntu documentation is always great, because, lets face it, the documentation can be pretty hard to find.

How to stop Thunar being default file browser Nope! I restarted after running the commands but Thunar continues to muscle out Nautilus. Testing things just for a few minutes doesn't show any chages at all. I suppose that is both good and bad! |

How to stop Thunar being default file browser No you can't. That is a seriously lame and half baked tool which only allows setting Web Browser, Mail Reader, Multimedia Player, Terminal Emulator and 2 Accessibility settings. Why one needs 4 tabs to do 6 things beats me as being design madness. |

Internet extremely slow on a Ralink 2501USB Given the variation between the times of your connection, the use of flash and your relatively poor connection anway these two tests look so similar as to be no indication of one OS working differently than the other. Whatever you do (as suggested in the wise responses below) just don't get your hopes up for any miraculous fix. |

Unable to resume if suspended for more than 20 minutes on a Dell Inspiron N5010 Ditto, (not sure exactly 20 min) on pretty powerful PC, ignored it because OSs in general are hopeless at resuming. |

Danger of overlay scrollbar in Natty Unfortunately Canonical haven't fully grasped that true design puts usability above all else and pretty as the overlays are, and as rarely as most of us use scrollbars because of the ubiquity of the wheel, the overlay scrollers have a multitude of problems. |

How to take screenshots of sections of the screen? Excepting that it is partially broken in Unity because it lays a blue overlay over the image captured. |
