I'm a Canonical employee, working as maintainer for NetworkManager and ConnMan on Ubuntu. I'm also a member of the Ubuntu-Quebec LoCo team and participate in organizing a number of events in the province of Quebec, especially around Montreal.

I'm also a former network administrator and I used to design and manage a large enterprise network, so I'm also interested in a lot of enterprise-related things, especially when it comes to networking.

I also maintain a couple of packages in Debian: acct, congruity, concordance, ethos, emerillon; doing all kinds of small projects related to packaging software or improving Debian and Ubuntu.

comment network manager says “device not managed”
Setting managed= is unnecessary (unless it's meant to revert a prior change).

comment Why does Ubuntu 11.10 start and shut down so slowly?
You're not far, since this script is currently indirectly a stop-condition for network-manager. However, please don't modify or change the order of those, since it can have much more important effects than just speeding up startup/shutdown time. In other words, there is indeed a bug (thanks for reporting it) but that's not the right way to fix it. :)

comment Respawning vpnc from NetworkManager
it's the most likely cause if it consistently disconnects after a specific amount of time (eg. always after 5 minutes)
