comment Is there a way to turn off individual screens?
@JorgeCastro it's not related to the hardware and TwinView: there appears to be no way to turn off a screen individually when it's on the same $DISPLAY, except from removing/disabling it from the RandR config. We want to turn off e.g. the laptop screen, but keep any windows there.

comment How to prevent apt-get/aptitude keeping a cache
This will only control how apt-get autoclean behaves. From apt-get(8): "The configuration option APT::Clean-Installed will prevent installed packages from being erased if it is set to off."

comment What actions does Ubuntu trigger when battery is low?
@ElderGeek I only have /usr/share/acpi-support/state-funcs on my system. policy-funcs is available in acpi-support-base (but only for Debian).

comment Text files open in Nautilus instead of Text Editor
Please note that my answer explicitly mentions that you should not need to remove exo-utils, but that it can be fixed - just in case exo-utils is useful to you. I am adding a link to my answer as an answer. I have flagged it as duplicate.

It can be fixed without removing exo-utils/xfce: askubuntu.com/a/493866/169

comment In Unity, the folder containing a file selected in the dash is opened in Nautilus instead of opening the file with the corresponding application
It is "only" xdg-utils, which is problematic, and can be fixed. See askubuntu.com/a/493866/169.

If this happens for all files (also images etc), see askubuntu.com/a/493866/169.

No need to remove it. See askubuntu.com/a/493866/169.

You need to only remove exo-related lines from ~/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list, see askubuntu.com/a/493866/169.
