comment How to install a package with apt without the “Do you want to continue [Y/n]?” prompt?
I particularly like the part "A 'feature' of this method is that this will break if you are incorrectly assuming only one interactive prompt." as spamming yes to everything can be extra dangerous.

comment Howto run Ubuntu with UEFI and Intel Smart Response Technology
Thanks for the info. Can you expand on your statement "I originally installed Win8 and Debian" how? what bios options what sequence? and "SRT worked in both Linux and Windows ... I verified that the 1TB disk was accelerated even while I was in Linux." how did you verify this? Please update your answer with this info. Also can you add the output of the linux command lspci -v from the system with SRT enabled, I suspect you have a higher end laptop, possibly with a real hardware raid card, unlike my cheaper laptop.

comment I installed an alpha or beta, am I up to date with the final release if I keep upgrading?
You may want to add that anywhere along a repo's timeline that the next set of repos exist, will let you run sudo upgrade-manager -d to change to the next higher set of repos, in this case to the 11.04 ones. You will also go straight (or nearly so) to the current update of 11.04. You do not need to dist-upgrade via an alpha/beta release if there are later ones available.

comment Backup and Disaster recovery moving from Windows XP
By enlarge I agree, data only backups in Linux are usually all that is needed. Though if you want a full system image backup to improve your recovery time objective you could ensure your Ubuntu install is using LVM so you can use its snapshot technology to do backups like that described on tldp.org/HOWTO/LVM-HOWTO/snapshots_backup.html

comment Will `sudo reboot` on KVM host gracefully poweroff guest VMs?
I just learned you are supposed to put changes into a new /etc/init/libvirt-bin.override file instead of changing the .conf file. According to upstart.ubuntu.com/cookbook/#override-files and sebastian.marsching.com/wiki/Linux/KVM
