comment Graphics problem on new lubuntu install
To be honest, I'm not sure what commands to run to get a connection, so it's likely that I simply haven't tried the right thing. If I can't get some form of GUI, then I will try more, but for the moment my aim is to get the GUI up. Thanks anyway.

Looking through the log, the only obvious error is: Failed to load module "s3virge" (module does not exists, 0) It has also occurred to me that I am used an HD monitor, which the graphics card is almost certainly not capable of handling. Is there any way to see/change the resolution it is trying to use? If it seems likely that this is not ever going to work, then would you know of an alternative to lxde that might? Thanks for your help.

Ethernet is not an option, and I can successfully see the network via wifi, so I do not think it is a driver issue.

Have you set your BIOS to boot from USB? What happens when you try to boot?

I've edited to include some, but if you'd like more, let me know what. Specific commands to run would be helpful, but I'm certainly willing to figure stuff out myself.

comment How to search multiple file names in Nautilus?
You need to select 'Name matches regular expression' from the dropdown before you click the 'add' button next to it. Then it will create a box which understands regular expressions. In you second screenshot you are typing in a box labelled 'Contains the text'.

Interesting, it works perfectly for me. You are definitely typing that into the new box that appears, not the one at the top of the program?

Sorry, I'm confused. Do you mean that my answer doesn't solve your problem because there is no applicable regular expression, or that Nautilus doesn't accept regular expressions? Nautilus does not understand regular expressions, so if you want a GUI search which does, then I have given an example. If you want to integrate it with Nautilus a bit more, then a script could to so: I'll edit my answer.
