Yep! Please post it as an answer. Just putting the same version number as the folder name works. Basically, debian should have been in the source folder

You're right. That was the only mistake :/ This was kinda my first time packaging, so I seem to have to made a silly mistake. I'll do more research before posting a doubt here next time.

Turns out, it was indeed a hardware issue. Thanks to awesome service by Dell, I got my motherboard replaced. Apparently my GPU had malfunctioned due to overheating.

My laptop ran a Django server for a couple of hours. And yeah, it does seem to be a hardware issue. I reinstalled Linux, and I got an error, Ring test failed; hardware acceleration disabled on my boot screen.
