comment Nvidia driver install
Are you killing your graphic interface before? Try crt + alt + f1, login, and type sudo lightdm stop before running the installer.

uhm... just a guess, but try to run sudo updatedb in a terminal, and then check the search again.

comment Short-cut for switching to a given directory
crtl + r in a terminal also looks for "partial matches" in previous commands. Really handy as well.

comment Can I arrange the files in a folder by the method “Group According to type” in Nautilus?
@Nirmik I believe that if you first select View->List, then click on Type to group the files according to its extension and then click back to View->Icon, the order will be kept so you will have an Icon view group by extensions.

I did all you said, and I have updated the question with the output. As you can see, everything looks fine in console, but then GUI complains about "Partial upgrade".

comment Alt key in Autodesk Maya 2011 using Gnome
@fossfreedom If I do so I get this message "Users with less than 100 reputation can't answer their own question for 8 hours after asking. You may self-answer in 7 hours. Until then please use comments, or edit your question instead." I will add the answer in a few hours then :)

comment Alt key in Autodesk Maya 2011 using Gnome
Ok, I'm such an idiot :) All I had to do was restart Maya after setting Preferences -> Windows -> Movement Key and set it to Super. Now you drag your windows using Super + click, and in Maya your ALT key behaves as expected. I was about to delete this question, but I will leave it in the system, just in case someone falls into the same error...... Cheers!

That why I said "issue" and not issue :) It would be nice to, at least, give the possibility to parametrize such speed.

comment Unity launcher menu “reaction speed”
I want to increase the speed. I understand that some delay might be necessary to avoid non desired invocations, as you said, but to me is too slow. Is there any way to parametrize such speed?

Pressing TAB enables you to select any of the listed apps. Is that what you meant?
