no, in my exp it is just there, but you have to use file -> print to get it, the pdf printer will work with a quick print button

been running xubuntu 13.04 since beta and it is very stable here, i would try to SSH into the frozen system and try the reboot command, after trying to see what happened, you can try the REISUB thing, rarely works for me when it freezes

sudo update-grub will update the grub menu, i use synaptic and filter to the kernel version and remove the 4 items for each old kernel, filter using version number

I doubt it would miss any, 2 slots is typical of a mainstream oem system, my laptop only has 1 slot and a integrated 2gb chip, you still need to check your manual sudo hwinfo --bios 2>/dev/null | grep 'Product:' should get your model to so you can look it up

somewhere in the bios it will likely have a option that is set to UEFI, that can be set to BIOS, probably in the boot section; you can try boot repair
