comment Safe to remove /usr/src/linux-headers after purging older linux images?
Except sometimes apt-get autoremove can't run because of an out of disk space error, due in part to /usr/src/linux* taking up 2G of space on a small drive.

comment How do you debug a php5-fpm kernel segfault error?
You should open a ticket if: 1. You reproduce the issue with their latest version (which may be newer than what's packaged for Ubuntu). 2. You are reasonable sure the problem is with them. 3.You have searched in their bug tracker & docs to confirm it's not already a known issue. Be prepared to provide details of your configuration which may related to triggering the issue.

comment How to enable Hardware Encryption on SSDs like Samsung 840 EVO?
@jespestana the difference with the BIOS password is that it can't* be accessed over the network, making the attack more default. *(Perhaps unless you have a serial-to-network connection on the computer, which is unlikely on a desktop or laptop)

comment Upstart script doesn't start
@radtek For performance, daemons commonly don't re-read configuration files unless you explicitly tell them to. PostgreSQL, Nginx and Apache are examples of services like this. In the example of Upstart-based init, the official docs have this note: "This command is generally not necessary since init(8) watches its configuration directories with inotify(7) and automatically reloads in cases of changes." In this case, automatic reloading failed due to bad permissions.

I tried disabling 'cheese', and Chromium still set me to the wizard to install the Google talk plugin, even though it was already installed.

Did you try "sudo initctl reload-configuration" as suggested? Did you check permissions, logs, docs?

comment How to download songs from Amazon's Cloud Player?
Thanks spending a good deal of time reviewing all the options to automate downloading the whole album at once, I found I download the entire album one song at a time in just a minute or two. The hard way was easier.

On Ubuntu 12.04, you can check for the SSE2 flag like this: grep sse2 /proc/cpuinfo. If it's there, it will be appear in the output. If it's not, nothing will be printed.
