comment Can indicator actions be accessed via the HUD in 13.10?
Alternatives include gnome-do (which allowed at least some of the stuff you do through the old HUD) and Alt-F10 followed by the Left arrow to get to the indicator menus.

@AndrejsCainikovs The link you give for the official PPA is just the source package in Ubuntu - it is not a PPA at all.

comment How to migrate an encrypted LVM install to a new disk
Just discovered the rsync exclude of sys excluded some directories I wanted to include. I will come up with a more discerning rsync command and update this answer.

comment How do I optimize the OS for SSDs?
@lsiden: the article does mention "Later:- in May 2008" part way through. And you are correct that you shouldn't worry about all the other stuff in the first article. Just enable TRIM and enjoy the speed :)

comment Copying photos from camera stalls - how to track down issue?
Thanks for the workaround - that had occurred to me, though I don't currently own a card reader. Research also suggests that the Canon 40D doesn't do mass storage mode, only PTP. Other googling has suggested go-mtpfs.

Is that something I do via Ubuntu or via the camera? If via Ubuntu, how do I do that?

Turns out the gconf settings are actually all correct, but the keybindings still don't work :/ Time to go update the bug.

Nice try, but the /apps/metacity/window_keybindings/switch_to_workspace_up doesn't seem to exist. I'm browsing around using dconf-editor to see where the shortcut might be.

comment Lost console when EC2 ssh is logged out
@Siddharth Yes, the mouse won't work with tmux. Instead you have to do Ctrl-A [ to enter scrollback mode. You can then PgUp and PgDown. When you're done, press q to go back to normal mode. (And feel free to accept my answer ;)

Anything in the logs? Poke around the recent files in /var/log and see if there are any clues. Googling for error messages often gets me a long way.
