comment Failed to create thumbnail error fills gnome-session.log.1 to 50 GB!
I think the clearing the thumbnail cache did the job, I'll keep a eye on it but it appears that it stopped adding the error messages.

comment How to delete Windows XP and integrate its partition to Ubuntu?
ok, you could install it, it is in the software center. there is also probably a command you can run to give the info, but I don't know what. What I want to know is whether the partitions are located next to each other. in that case it should be quite easy: go in a live usb or dvd (cd) and use gparted (I am sure it is on the live cd) to remove the xp partition and to resize the ubuntu one. the partitions need to be unmounted thats why you need a live usb/dvd.

can you open Gparted (I think it is installed by default on Ubuntu not sure though) and paste a screen shot of how your disk is partitioned?

I would suggest to keep communications on this site, this information might help other people with the same problem. Also be aware of the risks of leaving email addresses out in the open on the Internet.

comment is adobe flash player plugin installer marked as “important security update”?
Do you have Flash player installed on your system. In that case it is important to update, apparently the old version had a bug that could cause security problems. if you don't have flash but you get it as a security update I agree that seems weird.

comment I'm in the current development version after doing “do-release-upgrade -d”, why?
from the man-page of do-release-upgrade: -d, --devel-release Check if upgrading to the latest devel release is possible so it exactly that and upgraded to the latest development release.

Welcome to Askubuntu, thanx for your answer. I think you could improve your answer if you could also include some directions how to check the permissions.

comment Triple boot OSX, Win7, Linux - broke my Win 7 install
I am sorry but I still flagged you question as off topic, since well... it is. since Grub is the default in Ubuntu and you don't want to use Grub I think this question is so far of from a Ubuntu use case I think you could better ask this question in an other place, for example in the Unix & Linux Stack Exchange.

comment Freeze on BIOS screen after boot-repair puts a certain file as EFI
cant you access the BIOS setup screen because it doesn't reach that screen or for an other reason? If it does not even reach that screen it looks like a hardware problem and does have little to do with Ubuntu I am afraid.
