comment On 12.04 ndiswrapper appears to be working but no wlan0 device appears
modinfo shows that the version is 1.58. I rebuilt it just to check and it's fine. I'm pretty sure I've tracked down the problem. Netgear never released a 64 bit driver for the WN311T wireless NIC for Windows XP (WinXP). I loaded the Vista 64 bit driver, hoping it was close enough. No such luck, though I would have expected ndis to throw an error instead of effictevly say "yeah, looks good". So, my options are downgrade to 32 bit Ubuntu or, since I have a spare wireless NIC at a slower speed, try that one instead. Thank you =^-^=

Good call, Chili555. Dmesg is showing a lot of errors. ndiswrapper (import:232) unknown symbol: ntoskrnl.exe:'__chkstk' ndiswrapper (import:232) unknown symbol: NDIS.SYS'NdisFreeMdl' That gets followed by several more similar unknown symbol messages. Poked around on Google, looks like the Windows driver I loaded isn't really the right one even though ndis thinks it is.
