You won't see anything about Nvidia in the Bios, you need to look for "Optimus".

Make sure "Proprietary drivers for devices (restricted)" is checked in the "Ubuntu Software" tab of Software Sources, then run the software updater again and see if it appears then. Also, if you just want to use the Nvidia card, and don't want to use the other card, you can disable Optimus in your Bios settings. Just go into Bios when your computer first starts up, before Ubuntu loads, find the "Optimus" option and make sure it's disabled. This does, however, result in using the battery faster, due to the higher power draw of the Nvidia card.

In the 12.10 interface, there's a little gear button in the upper right hand corner. If you click on it, there's an option for "SMART Data and Tests." This should get you to the interface you need.

@user125223 - Ubuntu can be more sensitive to failing hardware than Windows (in the case of hard drives, this is a very good thing, trust me). If the drive is failing, it very likely was even under Windows, but Windows just didn't detect it, either because it didn't use the same sectors, or because it ignores error until a higher threshold. Additionally, the act of formatting and repartitioning may have sent the drive over the edge of failure.

To fix the prompt: In "Printers", go to the "Server" menu and click "Settings". Then, check the box next to "Publish Shared Printers".

Do you have an "index.php" file? According to your question, you're using "test.php".
