comment How to set up a network printer. (shared with windows)
@Seth - If you know of someone who's up to date on networked printers, then by all means, include an addendum for new versions (I'd still say keep what's there, since 12.04 is still supported, but other than that, go for it).

@Seth - The question is specifically for 12.04, I think it'd be better to keep the answer that way (especially since 12.04 is still supported and doesn't EOL until 2017). Additionally, I no longer run Ubuntu, but I'm pretty certain the process is still pretty much the same. The only difference might be details like menu item names.

comment Is there a Linux equivalent to LinqPad?
@John - The problem is that there is no simplified GUI front end for MySQL that directly compares to LinqPad, so no, none of the alternatives will be exactly like it. That's why I said that Workbench is more akin to SQL Server Management Tools than LinqPad. As for update capability, the paid-for versions do allow you to update the tables a query generates (the view that looks like an Excel document), which can result in "non-trivial statements." You can also easily generate some gnarly SQL with the LINQ syntax. So in that sense, it's not limited in what it can do, just what the GUI supports.

comment Is nginx-extras supposed to have passenger compiled with it?
Yeah, it seems they've changed the docs since I posted that, and I ended up either using Brightbox or doing my own build (since I needed modules that the Brightbox PPA didn't come with standard).

Just out of curiosity, why are you wanting to force your system to use such an old version?

comment Getting Star Wars - Rogue Squadron working on linux
Have you tried PlayOnLinux? If not, try it. Also, a quick search on WineHQ for reviews of the game shows that it has, at best, a bronze rating. The reviews for it are old, though, so it's possible the things keeping it from working have since been fixed. However, that should be something to keep in mind.

comment How to run audio settings program without Unity?
What are you trying to achieve by avoiding Unity here? Are you using a different desktop environment (ie - Gnome, KDE, etc)? Do you want to adjust it via terminal, keyboard commands, something else?
