comment Setting directory file permissions in Ubuntu using chmod
Er, it looks like he's trying to add an ACL entry, not change the basic permissions.

comment Touchpad detected as both PS/2 mouse and ALPS Glidepoint…uses PS/2 mouse settings
The psmouse_alps_dkms driver in the comments there helped some, but my hardware acts flaky enough with it (it acts flaky with the real ALPS driver on windows, to, my computer shipped with a custom driver) that I gave up.

comment Should I update to an LTS release?
@JeffFerland "Ubuntu upgrades are only tested against the previous release" even for LTS-LTS?

comment How to hide terminal output when executing a command?
@TC1 In principle, a program could reopen /dev/tty and print the output there. In practice, GUI programs won't do that.

comment Can I legally build and sell desktops with Ubuntu pre-installed?
iusmentis.com/trademarks/crashcourse/limitations says "Also, trademark rights are exhausted when a trademarked product lawfully enters the market. The trademark holder then normally can no longer act against resale of the trademarked product.". OP should probably ask a real lawyer, though, particularly if he has any intention of doing this without getting permission.

Does the branding within the OS actually count as "using" the trademark if it's not mentioned in any of your marketing materials?

comment Low disk space: home/user folder occupies 94GB
@tedtoy It seems absurd that a simple log file could grow that large. You should run fsck just in case this is an indication of something wrong with the filesystem structure.

Instead of baobab you may want to look at the tool "gdmap" - it shows space in a more visual way [you'll get a big rectangle for your big file]
