comment /, /home and swap partition sizes when using multiple drives
I disagree about not having a seperate home partition. If you happen to distro hop at all it makes it much easier.

comment No GRUB promt after dual boot installation
Your grub menu might be set to timeout at 0 seconds. As soon as your bios splash goes away, press the shift keys a bunch of times and the grub menu should pop up

FYI: sudo apt-get upgrade updates your CURRENT version. sudo apt-get dist-upgrade upgrades your version to a new one.

comment How to completely remove broken GNOME/GDM installed on Ubuntu Server?
You might want to use remove if you have configured the program but the executables/libraries are corrupted, but I usually just purge it to make sure it is gone, gone, gone.

comment Alternatives to aptoncd to move software from Ubuntu 13.04 to Lubuntu 13.04
if you already have a working ubuntu, why don't you try sudo apt-get install lubuntu-desktop ? Then you can login to than instead. It will only download what you need and you won't lose your /home

If 64bit Ubuntu installed at all, your hardware is up to it. It wouldn't even let you install if it weren't.
