comment How do I connect to a WPA wifi network using the command line?
@Rinzwind, Yes... Looking through wpa_supplicant's manpage shows that the driver may vary, so your command will likely not work as literally given. You have to choose the -D<driver> for your specific hardware. For me, it ended up being "nl80211".

comment NetworkManager refuses to manage my WLAN interface
This doesn't work for me on Ubuntu 14.04. Boot still takes forever with the message "Waiting for network configuration" and afterwards Network Manager and my wifi is still disabled. Nothing works until I manually run nmcli nm wifi on.

comment Why doesn't network-manager start at boot?
@Andy, If he's on wireless, he has no static interface. If he has auth eth0 in his interfaces, it'll wait for several minutes, fail, and never fire the event.

comment connect to wifi from command line
How do you make NM enable wifi automatically during boot? Every time I reboot, Network Manager starts with wifi disabled.

comment How to connect to WiFi from Lubuntu?
@Braiam, Your answer makes no sense. He's using Network Manager. The command he ran already saved the connection. The whole point of Network Manager is so you don't have to manually setup hacky startup routines.

comment Use Network-Manager to connect to a WiFi Access Point on the command-line
This gets me close, but even though ifconfig says my wlan0 has an IP, I can't ping or resolve any addresses.

comment bluetooth headset connects but not showing in sound settings
@Tim, For your car's sake, I really hope you're just trolling me. Regardless, this appears to be an unresolved bug in pulseaudio.

comment Disable automatic activation of Gnome Shell activities on mouse over
This is the only valid answer and worked perfectly for me on Ubuntu 14.10. I realize the higher-voted answers were entered earlier, but having to manually edit Javascript just to turn something off is never acceptable...

comment Disable auto-opening nautilus window after auto-mount
This doesn't work in Gnome-Shell. It still pops-up that notification asking to "Open with Files" or "Eject" or "Open with music player", etc.

I had to do the first step and @flx's answer to get mine to work.

comment bluetooth headset connects but not showing in sound settings
@Tim, You don't fix a flat tire by putting a piece of scotch tap over the hole... This issue recently re-emerged for me in 14.04, and even this no longer "fixes" it. If we knew the underlying problem, we could find a better solution.

comment Brightness not working after installing NVIDIA driver
@ElderGeek, Unfortunately, Nouveau doesn't support suspend/resume, making it useless for a laptop, which is a shame because it was otherwise better than the Nvidia driver. I upgraded to 14.04 and the Nvidia 340 driver, and now screen dimming works.
