comment NOUVEAU on 2013 15" macbook 14.04 crashes on resume
Same problem, except the Nvidia drivers don't work at all for me. All I get is a garbled screen.

comment Resume from suspend not working on Macbook Pro 5,5 with Nouveau
I just tried the Nvida 331 driver, and that made things even worse. That caused no desktop at all to show even after a reboot.

comment Unable to resume after suspend
Had a similar problem in 14.04 on a Macbook with the Nouveau driver, and unfortunately this did not work. This did let me get to a login screen, whereas before I only saw my desktop background, but once logged in, everything was frozen. Trying to kill/restart gnome-shell was unsuccessful.

comment How to get the hostname from a DHCP server
Although zeroconf is installed by default, it's horribly unreliable. I'm frankly surprised when it works, as pinging hostname or hostname.local rarely results in success even though nothing's changed on my network in months.

comment Brightness not working after installing NVIDIA driver
Just a followup, I tried all the documented solutions, and nothing ever worked, including using the most recent Nvida driver. However, when I purged the Nvidia driver and used the open source Nouveau driver, screen dimming immediately started working.

comment Cannot update grub with paramters on live USB
This doesn't seem to work if the sd*# is a software RAID array.

Your solution is confusing. Do you need to run the first part and the second from within the chroot of the first? Or do you throw away everything you did in the first part and only run the second part? Why do you mount both /dev/sda and /dev/sda1?

Attempting to run mount gives me the error:, NTFS signature is missing. which is odd, because it should be Ext4, not NTFS...

comment How to send mail from the command line?
I wish it were really this simple, but unless you're someone very special, this isn't going to work. 99.9999% of ISPs will ignore mail from private postfix servers, because 9.99999 times out of 10 they're spammers.

Did you even run this yourself? grub-update isn't a program that exists anywhere...
