comment DNS issues on Ubuntu 12.04 with OpenVPN
Can you ping raw IPs? I had a similar problem and it turned out DNS was find, but my firewall was blocking everything. After I disabled that and/or added a rule, OpenVPN worked.

comment How to find USB hub speed
@douggro, It shows two entries of "Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub". I guess I'm misreading it? Strange the -vvv option shows something different.

comment How do I find out USB Speed from a terminal?
@Raja, Run sudo lsusb -vvv |grep -i -B5 -A5 bDeviceProtocol. Then look at the entries listed as bDeviceClass Hub.

@Tim, It doesn't solve the problem because the problem comes back almost immediately.

He had problems running apt-get update so your recommended solution is to run apt-get update?!

Thanks for the update. But it still doesn't explain why I'm getting the error on my server. Note, it's not a desktop.

comment Release upgrade to 14 failed with a Python exception
What? This has nothing to do with my question. I'm trying to upgrade my release to 14.04, not a normal package upgrade. Please delete this answer or I will downvote it.

comment Gnome Ubuntu 14.04 aticonfig: No supported adapters detected ati radeon 6770m
Turned out, I had to uninstall the fglrx package, with is the crappy proprietary ATI driver that drops support for all cards older than a couple of years, but still disables the built-in open source driver that works perfectly.

comment Radeon HD 2000, 3000, 4000 on Ubuntu 12.04.2 and higher: fglrx (legacy) unsupported, what to do?
I think you had the opposite problem. This will help because ATI is no longer supported cards less than 5000. This works because you purged the proprietary driver, allowing the better built-in open source driver to do its thing. I didn't have any desktop at all after upgrading from 12.04 to 14.04, and this fixed everything for me.
