@mikewhatever Actually, UbuntuForums isn't much help either.

@mikewhatever now it just won't connect at all. Tries, disconnects. Over and over.

comment Ubuntu on Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro
What does this accomplish? I'm trying to get wireless working and I'm working in the dark. What is ideapad_laptop and why is it holding things back?

We're connected to the same wireless network, it works fine for me and is absurdly slow for her. We're sitting a foot apart.

Why is this flagged as too broad? I realize I need help narrowing down the problem, but it is a very real problem that is making it very hard for her to run Ubuntu.

comment How do I distinguish folders with the same name in Unity?
Ideally when I hover over the icon the full path would be exposed.

comment Why unity will not find my folder?
It seems crazy that the Files and Folders lens doesn't use the Locate database but that seems to be the case from that bug thread.

comment Prevent gedit from creating files with the '~' (tilde) suffix
By the way: if you do find ./ -name "*~" -ok rm {} \; you can find and remove them. The ok means you'll be asked about every file. If you're more bold, -exec will just do it, no questions asked.

comment Why did all my gedit plugins croak on 13.10 (and how do I fix them)?
Is there a URL for the 2to3 script? Thanks.

comment Can I toggle word-wrapping on/off quickly in Gedit?
Eesh. Somehow I downvoted this. I definitely didn't mean to. And I did it too long ago to fix? Meanwhile, all links are broken.

comment Why can't I get online? (the conference wifi question)
@lekensteyn I have a Thinkpad X1. The network iya one of those open connections that steals your browser once you connect. I connected once, but can't anymore.

@wild_man only my phone can get online so I couldn't run your script if I tried.

Question: If my "project name" is ubuntu/saucy/msttcorefonts am I doing bzr push lp:~amandabee/ubuntu/saucy/msttcorefonts/actualbranchname or just bzr push lp:~amandabee/msttcorefonts/actualbranchname

I assume you mean lsusb? Don't want to edit that if the problem is a typo. Also: please provide a link to the package you installed, or at least the name of the package.

comment Did I accept the ttf-mscorefonts-installer EULA?
I did file a bug about this. Feel free to weigh in there and help get this addressed. It has been confusing users for years. bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/msttcorefonts/+bug/1283746

comment How to run applications as root?
@АртёмЦарионов For one thing, as root you can edit files your computer uses to start up the operating system or load your graphical environment, effectively breaking your computer.

comment Did I accept the ttf-mscorefonts-installer EULA?
@gertvdijk Thanks. It is a little exasperating that the answer to a missing video codec problem seems to be ubuntu-restricted-extras and it was lazy of me to settle for that instead of figuring out which package in the meta package actually contained what I needed.
