Since you've been looking for this since Oct, seems the answer to your current question is just "no." I might rephrase to: "I often only realize I need to clean up a directory when I reach it via the file selection dialog. Are there good ways to hop straight from that dialog to a window manager in the same folder so I can clean up (mostly delete) stray files? Can anyone suggest other short paths from 'open file' to 'move'/'delete'?" You might get more creative answers that way.
