comment How do I launch my script from a launcher?
I added that information, but I don't think the problem is with that part because I had the same problem with adding a launcher to the menu bar with an older Ubuntu, which I asked on this site about , about an year ago: askubuntu.com/questions/329232/…, and it has not yet been solved.

I followed your suggestion but it still did not work.

In the file, I have a shebang like #!/usr/bin/env ruby. Is this not enough?

comment Modifying the Gnome Classic panel
What you suggest helps editing the menu, but what I want is to modify the bar itself. For example, I want to add the window selectors on the top bar, remove the bottom bar, replace the item that says "Applications" and "Places" with one that integrates them all and simply have the Ubntu logo. I also want to add a system monitor to the top bar that indicates the CPU activity, HDD activity, and s on. There is also indicator that tells the temperatures of the CPU and HDD. I was able to do this with previous versions of Ubuntu.

@StephenMyall I am not asking how to do it from command. I am asking how to do it from GUI.

comment Linux Mint: Enabling NetworkManager at startup
I did that, and now, the whole OS crashes after booting. I think there is a serious bug related to NetworkManager. I removed the line again, and the system has the same problem as before.

comment Problem with adobe-reader
Thanks. After following your instructions, the "zombie" item in the main menu is still there (ending up with two items when reinstalled), but now, the trouble dissolved.

comment Problem with adobe-reader
I did all that, but there is still an item "Adobe Reader 9" in the main menu, which does not run but just shows a dialog that says that it cannot find the program, and after reinstalling, I get two of those items. And when I run one of them, the same problem arises again.

@whitey I added the CPU spec. I do not know what else I should add. The graphics engine is onboard. The only optional hardware that I added is the wireless network card added on the PCI-express slot.

comment composite-video-to-usb adaptor
Thanks for the answer. /dev/video or /dev/video1 do not seem to exist. I am trying to make the uvcvideo driver work. Search on the website suggest that ubuntu 11.04, which I am using, should have it already, but I cannot make it work. I am not sure if it helps, but I added information from dmesg to my question.
