I am a grumpy systems programmer who has been forced to use high-level languages by the Evil Forces of Capitalism. I live in Stockholm, where the definition of great weather is: not currently -25 C. I enjoy innebandy, glög, and solglasögon.

comment Am I affected? Heartbleed bug
It is completely absurd, given the severity of this issue, to close a question and thus deny help to a large group of people. Unflexible application of guidelines (see definition of "guideline" versus "rule") makes for a really poor community. Please consider re-opening this question.

comment Openbox stops accepting keyboard and mouse input
gnome-settings-daemon is running when everything is working. I'll check it when things freeze again. Thanks for the lead!

comment Why don't the Function Key options and play/pause/volume work on a Mac Bluetooth Keyboard?
I have a MacBook Pro 8,2 on which the keyboard's audio keys were working fine in 11.04. When I upgraded to 11.10, they stopped working. I'm looking around the Net to see if I can find a solution, so if I do, I'll stick the answer in here.

comment How to change/create password keyring
As a further note, once I created a new keyring with my login password, I set it as default (and deleted the old one, but that is strictly optional).

comment How do I type a backtick in RubyMine with a Swedish keyboard layout?
Wonderful, thank you! I had forgotten all about the option to eliminate dead keys. I blame xorg--when they made configuration so easy, I stopped having to look up keyboard layout names. ;)

comment How do I disable overlay scrollbars?
Thanks for this, guys. As I absolutely despise the overlay scrollbars, I'll accept the answer that removes the packages, but I'm sure this info will be useful to others.

OK, I'll try that if I encounter the bug again. If someone else can independently verify that this trick works, I'll accept this answer instead of mine. :)

It is probably best to put this information in your first answer and delete this one. :)

@Roland: sure, but opening a terminal and typing config didn't work for me. :)

Very useful, thanks! I'm accepting my own answer because it is the answer to the very specific question that I asked, but voting yours up because it is great info. :)

The command to run is actually gconf-editor. I edited the answer to say so, but it is pending approval.

Sorry if I'm being thick, but how do you then add the indicator to the panel (or whatever Unity calls it)? If you know, please add it to your answer and I'll accept it. :)

Jorge: Why remove Natty from the title? Lots of people Google for natty, and if the word is not in the title (and hence the URL), this question is less likely to rank highly.
