@steeldriver Looks like you were correct. See my answer; if you'd like to post a more precise answer I'll be happy to select your version.

@steeldriver that sounds unlikely - I would have expected a stdio.h file right in the current ../include directory

comment Using the Themes in the Repository (14.04)
Odd -- in my case, nothing ever worked with the unity-tweak-tool, but I had great success with gnome-tweak-tool . Maybe I need to be more careful with my 14.04.1 installation.

Hi -- could you explain what you renamed /.config from or to? I'm having a similar problem to yours.

comment Can sudo be reinstalled after being removed?
@AdityaPatil No argument - I just wanted to make sure people were aware of the difference but wrote too little.

comment Can sudo be reinstalled after being removed?
All answers do depend on some way of accessing the filesystem with privileges. For (counter)example: my Android Asus Memopad does not have sudo and has no "safe boot" or equivalent. The only way I know of is to go to xda-dev and d/l a prebuilt full install package. You're lucky, so to speak, that you don't have this limitation.
