comment Using Nvidia 319.12 with bumblebee
I tried that, but I never get it working with 3.9 kernel and Nvidia 319. So I ended up with latest 3.8 kernel and Nvidia 310. But thanks, your post helped me a lot, although it didn't work as intended

There is a way - testdisk, but it there is great chance, that you overwrote some data from the old partition, so you won't be able to recover everything

try installing newest kernel-headers-generic or maybe update all your system packages with sudo apt-get upgrade. This is a common problem and there are many ways how to fix it, but the right solution is different for almost every computer. Updating kernel-headers worked for me.

I'm not sure what to search for, but I found out that it is realtek rts5139 card reader (I found it in /sys/usb/drivers)

There is the way to switch them - Bumblebee, but the performance will not be as goog as with nvidia proprietary drivers, but it is still better than just integrated one (Intel HD Graphics I guess) You can try Bumblebee and if the performance of Nvidia card will be too bad you can switch to nvidia proprietary drivers. Look here at installation instructions: bumblebee-project.org/install.html

Are you sure you want to use just nvidia card? it is awful battery eater and it causes great temperatures. the battery will last only a half or even less than with windows. If you are sure try these two commands: 'sudo apt-get autoremove xserver-xorg-video-nouveau' and 'sudo apt-get install nvidia-experimental-310' (it it says that this package does not exist try nvidia-experimental-304) and restart. But there is possibility of running into problems, I had some problems, but for me helped installing newest linux-headers-generic (with apt-get install) and 'sudo dpkg-reconfigure lightdm'.
