I am a curious person who always likes to learn more. I like solving puzzles and I like working with computers. Which means I enjoy some of the more complex questions on this site, as well as the answers which go into details and explain all facets.

Re PSU: Does the problem occur when the system is powered only by the battery ? (Not that 20v to 19v is that huge. Or rather 20-ish volt to 19-ish volt. Usually a replacement works as long the the new PSU can supply at least the same amperage as the old one and it the voltage is close enough. 100% precise matches are not needed).

comment Is there a virtual machine with direct access to CPU and GPU for gaming?
That 2 monitor thing is a good point. I never considered it since I lump PCI passthough to NICs, RAID cards and such. --- Note that most monitors have more than one signal input. E.g. DVI, DP, composite, S-Video and component... Not that switching the input of a monitors between two sources is all that great of an solution.

Drat. Ah well, at least we know the answer. Pasting it here for future reference. "Intel graphics does not support dual-link, therefore 1920x1200 is the maximum for DVI and HDMI, 2560x1440 is only possible with a displayport port. "

I do not understands why that did not work. Do you have the same problem when you try to use the display port connectors? (Accoring to the links you provided both motherboard and monitor have DP).

comment how long should it take to create a raid 10 with 4 3TB disks?
No. RAID 10 is correct. The number after RAID does not indicate the number of drives used, but how they are used. With 4 large drives using RAID 10 is a sane choice. (For more details on RAID and a long explanation see this post on our sister site: serverfault.com/questions/339128/… )
