comment What is pxgsettings?
I don't know if To Do is going to respond, but in my particular case I'm running the Unity-desktop and not Gnome 3. I'd like to show you a list of processes to see if we could narrow it down, but this is not my question. If To do responds and says he found the answer, I'll award you the bounty (if it expires I'll add it on again).

Is this an issue for you still? I have the same issue but I don't have a bluetooth enabled laptop.

This works beautifully. Better than firefox in wine! Would you mind explaining what the problem was and why this fix works? Also, I'm running the 32 bit version of raring, so it works for both versions.

comment SYSLinux Error on boot, ubuntu 13.04
the answer to this question seems to indicate using a smaller flashdrive solved the problem. Another answer I saw somewhere said sandisk usb's were the problem. So may different answers that worked for different people with the same problem...hard to tell what causes it.

syslinux is the bootloader on the live version of ubuntu. It's suppose to give you the option between installing and trying linux. For other people with this problem it was a missing config file caused by a small flashdrive, but in your case that can't be the problem. Is there another machine you can test to see if your flash drive will boot from? Also, this question implies the problem might be with hp.

comment How come I can't resize Google Chrome's window less than 595px?
odd though, firefox uses the gtk+ library and it doesn't have a minimum width for its elements. There is bound to be something in the google chrome source code that you could alter to change this behaviour. Though if this is the case, this really isn't a question for askubuntu...

This is a guess, not an answer, but according to this question on stackexchange, Chrome uses a different GUI library for Windows, Mac, and Linux. So the code for the graphical interface for chrome for those 3 systems are different and written from scratch.

confirmed it. I can resize firefox to the point where I can barely see it, however Chrome and Chromium both have that minimum width. Weird...I'm inclined that there is something in the source code that causes it. But it seems odd that the windows port doesn't behave the same.
