comment How do I add different packages to MAAS clients on installation?
Also, is it possible to specify different sets of packages for different types of machines? Or is this getting into Juju territory?

Say I want to make my MAAS server a local package repository as well... is it possible to configure MAAS to use the local package repository when packages are installed on subsequent installations?

comment Has anyone deployed Swift in an OpenStack environment using Juju?
Thanks adam_g, very helpful. I haven't had a chance to execute your how-to, but I'm marking this as answered anyway because it clearly explains that a lot of work is going into the OpenStack Juju charms for the next LTS release of Ubuntu. I'll comment again on my experience(s) once I have a chance to actually try this out.

comment Application for creating images that look hand written/hand drawn
Thanks! Rufscript is perfect, and GIMP will work great once I can steady my hand out with the mouse and free-form some drawings. Scribus will also come in handy, but for something else. :-)

I've confirmed that smbfs and cifs still do not support krb5. I've also confirmed that even though the GUI method requires both an active Kerberos ticket and my Kerberos password. If I try it without a Kerberos ticket it will still prompt me for my password but will not mount the share. So if smbfs and cifs still don't support krb5, then what is the GUI using?!

comment See configured rules even when inactive
Thanks for the tidbit about "ufw show raw" - I must have missed that in the man pages. When I run it, I don't see anything that jumps out at me as being rules, which means I may not have any configured, but I don't want to chance it just yet. And yes, installing gufw would require a very large number of dependencies to be installed so I think I'll shy away from that approach.

I think it has something to do with the fact that the environment I'm in uses Kerberos authentication. If I remember correctly, I tried using both the smbfs and cifs mount commands before, but neither of them supported krb5 (maybe that's changed now...). If I mount the remote drive using the GUI, it only works when I've initialized a Kerberos key with kinit. If the output of klist is empty, the GUI won't work either. I'll try some things later when I'm on the right network and post my findings here. Thanks!

comment Can't remove Ubuntu Desktop from dropdown menu on logon screen
Thanks Sebikul, that worked perfectly. And just an FYI, the name of the files I removed were gnome.desktop and gnome-failsafe.desktop. Thanks!
