comment Is sublime legal to use?
Your argument is that it conforms to the shareware definition, so therefore you call it freeware? Freeware is not Shareware

comment How can I add more disk space to /boot for update
there's probably some leftovers from earlier upgrades in /boot, images and the likes. Some things you can do: use df -h to check harddisk space. You say you have plenty, but the partition /boot still can be full. Then, check out what is actually in /boot, the message is quite clear the problem is there. Maybe we van find something you can remove there? like old initrd stuffs?

removed confusion with memory and disk space. cleary it isn't about memory, as you can see by the message.

comment Why doesn't php (cli) have a default memory limit?
While what you say may be true, it hasn't got much to do with the fact that this question is about memory limit, and why the default of "-1" was chosen. Not about execution time or about how to change that?

comment Cannot update grub with paramters on live USB
I am booting from a usb-key. I want to reboot with that same key, but then with different parameters. There is only 1 installation, the one on the usb key. So the partition mounted at / of the installation I want to configure is 'currently' mounted at /

I'm not sure I follow you. What do you mean by "the Ubuntu partition" ? I'm not trying to change the boot parameters of the persistent USB drive, not of some other install?

Well, sure it is possible to develop under windows 7, but testing is going to get a bit tricky. Unless you opt for some virutal machine.. and if you're allready doing that... Anyway, why not develop for Ubuntu in Ubunut?

comment How safe is UBUNTU for “non-geek” users
Important part here is: set up properly: you log in with a limited account, and (maybe at first) do all admin tasks yourself. Don't give them an elevated account, and they cannot crash stuff.

You're having a network problem: can you reach other sites? from that commandline? (try wget google.com or something). Also, check out the formatting buttons on the edit field and put a bit effort into making your question look better. It helps :)
