Not running Java apps really made a difference. Couldn’t find answer to my original question but it sure helped. Thanks

comment why do I have to restart Ubuntu 12.10 in a couple of days time max?
I am new to Ubuntu. What should I look for in the information from top? CPU usage, memory usage or what? Can I kill tasks using top command? Finally my orignal question: Is it possible to go without restarting Ubuntu for months? If yes, then how? .... Thanks for your concern and support

It maybe the issue. I will try to find an alternate. Well, the memory stays the same 40% usage. What analysis would you recommend?

comment How to recover data from a drive that was erased during the Ubuntu installation?
Thanks rosch for the link but in my case I have installed Ubuntu in the same partition I want to recover (since both C and D are now a single drive, no partition)

comment How to recover data from a drive that was erased during the Ubuntu installation?
Thanks Tachyons I am not been able to run testdisk. I am following everything written in cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk_Step_By_Step After downloading, I created root account and logged in from that account. I downloaded and extracted testdisk-6.14-WIP. Afterwords I tried the command "sudo testdisk-6.14-WIP/testdisk_static" "command not found" returned and I am not able to go ahead with running testdisk This is my first time using Linux so kindly guide me accordingly. I will really be grateful.
