@LightnessRacesinOrbit : according to latest Steam survey, store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey , the top 5 Linux distros, that alone correspond to ~60% of all their Linux users, are 64-bit.

OP is using Ubuntu 12.04, and python3-pip is only available on 14.04 onwards

I would not recommend this blog post: It says "14.04 and older" but yet it contains outdated information, incorrect commands, and, it suggests installing MAME from an unofficial PPA instead of using the trusted repositories.
