There are many easy to hit pitfalls with chroot. For example, if the program is linked with shared libraries, it won't be able to access them when it runs inside the chroot environment. So it will probably segfault. One easy fix is to link the program statically.

Presumably you would create a directory and populate it with whatever you want the process to see. That directory will be the root of the new process, and is what the argument to chroot should be.
