comment “sleep” button on keyboard puts computer into hibernate
Everything worked for me in 14.04 except I can't get regular XF86Sleep to bind (even after changing the config setting to 'nothing'). However I was able to bind Alt+XF86Sleep. Also, I wanted it to lock the screen and turn off the monitor, so I used gnome-screensaver-command -l; xset dpms force off.

@Felipe to lock the screen you can use: gnome-screensaver-command -l (or to do both: gnome-screensaver-command -l; xset dpms force off

comment How do I install a root certificate?
Please note that, unlike adding to /usr/share/ca-certificates, this seems to only work if they're directly in /usr/local/share/ca-certificates and not a subdirectory. +1 for using local folder instead of system folder!

comment Errors running apt-get update and apt-get install mysql-server
Even though this wasn't the answer to OP's original issue (using outdated LTS), I'm on 12.04, was getting this same error, and your solution fixed it, so +1

comment How to remove the “AMD Testing use only” watermark?
This fix didn't work for me at first, then I realized I added a trailing space at the end of the line, and a newline at the end of the file. Be sure the file has ONLY a single line with the signature and NO whitespace for it to work.

comment What is the correct way to install proprietary ATI Catalyst Video Drivers (fglrx) directly from AMD?
On Ubuntu 12.10 with Beta Driver 13.3, the /etc/ati/signature watermark fix only worked when the code was entered WITHOUT a newline at the end and WITHOUT any trailing whitespace. When I copied and pasted I accidentally grabbed some whitespace & it didn't work at first.
