comment Error when running script in bash
Please translate the Spanish bits. It will make your question much more likely to get a reasonable answer (since it aids understanding of what the problem is), and will make the question and answer more usable for future users.

comment How to remove all that country-specific dictionaries (like En_AU, En_CA, de_CH, etc)?
Warning: It seems you must keep the current locale. I tried this and now echo | hunspell returns exit code 1 and prints the following error: "Can't open affix or dictionary files for dictionary named "en_AU"".

comment When to use () vs. {} in bash?
Yeah, but you have to remember to declare every variable local, and it clutters the code.

comment When to use () vs. {} in bash?
After many years of shell development I didn't know you could use parentheses to run functions in subshells. What a great idea to avoid polluting the global namespace!

comment How does this lowercase expression works in bash
The above expression very likely does not do what you want - it sets lower_case_var equal to echo and runs the lower cased version of $var with lower_case_var in its context (and lower_case_var is not available to the rest of the script). Either do lower_case_var="${var,,}" or lower_case_var="$(echo "${var,,}")".
