comment File could not be renamed, folder name conflicts with filename in Ubuntu 13.10
It's not like it's two files, or two folders. In this case I'm trying to give the file the same name as a folder, and surely this is allowed in most os.

comment How can I get my memory card slot to work?
Yes it worked on Windows, and now thanks to @Web-E's answer, it now works on Ubuntu. However, I need a way to make the changes permanent, so I don't have to run the command every time I start the system.

This worked! However, I have to execute that command every time I start the system. Is there a way to make it permanent?

comment Ubuntu stops using Nvidia driver after kernel upgrade
@Goddard I didn't encounter any of those problems when installing nvidia-current. Rather, the 2 errors were encountered when installing linux-headers-3.5.0-19-generic, and then another one when running sudo modprobe nvidia. However, the Nvidia driver now works, but I'm left curious if those messages imply something was broken.

Ok, so I removed & re-installed nvidia-current, then re-ran sudo modprobe nvidia, & it now works. I'm using the 304.51.really.304.43-0ubuntu1 too. I briefly tested the video playback again, & it appears to be working much better.

comment Ubuntu 12.10 won't display properly after kernel upgrade
With headers installed & running sudo mobprobe nvidia, I get error FATAL: Module nvidia_current not found. ALso, when running sudo /etc/init.d/*dm restart` it reports that no module was found for running the kernel. Upon restart it returns to it's previous state, then I had to switch back to the Nouveau driver, to fix it for now.

Thanks, very good suggestion, but I kinda love having the latest kernel/stuff, so I'll stick to the Nouveau driver.

Thanks, it works now. But I prefer the Nvidia driver, as I've had slight issues with the third party one in the past; but it works nonetheless, until they provide an update.

comment How do I set the native resolution on an HP Mini 210-1004sa?
@fossfreedom I tried lubuntu-desktop & the taskbar is hidden. Can someone please tell me how to change the aspect ratio to 4:3???

After doing this & restarting the system I can now see, and permanently set the 1024x600 (16:9) resolution I created much earlier without any errors. However, the display is squished, and the bottom bit of the OS is still hidden beneath the screen, & I think it has something to do with aspect ratio. The other 2 resolutions are 4:3, whilst 1024x600 mode is 16:9. How do I change it to 4:3?

That file doesn't exist in the given folder.

For Windows that have bits hidden beneath the screen, I use ALT + left click + drag, to move appropriately.

I followed this guide link to install the GPU driver, but the system reports the newest version is already installed.

No I haven't installed any drivers. I found this Intel driver PPA link but nothing seems to be available for Ubuntu 12.10. Will it install properly if I use the PPA for Ubuntu 12.04?

@fossfreedom I hope so too, have updated the question to be as clear as possible.

This doesn't solve the native resolution problem, although I installed Gnome Shell 3 and it's even worse; as some the dash are hidden beneath the screen. PS: I made sure not to select GDM as display manager; it really sucks!

I tried running Ubuntu 12.04LTS on USB, and the OS still runs down the bottom of the screen. Also, I'll remind you that this issue is the same with Lubuntu and Puppy Linux; it seems to be a "Linux thing"
